At 11:00am this Saturday, our very own Patty Henderson will lead a history walk through downtown and into the Maritime and Heritage Museums. This is a repeat of a wonderful tour that Patty led for the Women Out Walking group. Everyone is welcome.
We will meet inside the club and then stroll along Fjord Dr. to Front St., with numerous stops along the way for historical tidbits and stories. The event should last about 2 hours, depending on how fast we walk.
This is a free event but the Poulsbo Historical Society would welcome donations.

Captain Riddle will also provide some very valuable insights on how we can safely share the waters with our commercial ships without endangering our boats and crews along with with safe navigation. Their Mission: The Puget Sound Pilots is to ensure against the loss of lives, loss of and or damage to property and vessels. These professional Pilots are independent Professionals who work on behalf of the citizens of Washington State. Please join us to honor Captain Kevin Riddle, to enjoy and to expand our knowledge of our waterways. Part 2: Marina Fire Response Marina Fire ... certainly something we do not want to experience anywhere we travel, but something we should have skills to address. Maritime Radio History
Event Host - PYC Member Carlos Smith
Schedule:
6:00 PM: Social, ARG discussion and intro to those new to ARG
6:30 PM: Presentation begins
Join the Amateur Radio Group Wednesday June 11th, for a second guest speaker presentation by Richard Dillman of the Maritime Radio Historical Society and KPH, the last remaining Morse code coast station.
Richard will deliver a Ken Burns style presentation on the KPH ship to shore Morse code service which operated for non stop for over 70 years. This is the second presentation in the series and starts off where the first presentation in March ended.
KPH is the last remaining Morse code coast station and has been operating from Pt Reyes, California, since the early 1900s. KPH captures radio's magic and inspired some of us to get into radio communications.
We expect all club members will enjoy and find the stories fascinating regardless of background. Many consider this second presentation more gripping than the first and is worth attending even if you couldn’t make the first.
You can get a sense of what excites many about KPH by exploring https://www.radiomarine.org/ or by watching Richard talk about KPH in these short videos on YouTube:

The Fourth of July is, of course, a celebration of our Nation’s founding. Poulsbo Yacht Club’s celebration occurs on the 3rd. This annual celebration includes music, festive decorations, club supplied food from the grill, games, and a boat parade. The venue spans both the indoor clubhouse and the outside deck. Members are free to invite guests and will often come and go as they please between the event and other celebrations on their boat, whether on the docks or on the water.
